JOB DESCRIPTION:

Independent Care Solution specialises in providing domiciliary care and supported living services and accommodation to vulnerable people aged of all age. Our expertise lies in caring for people with mental health, learning disabilities, and/or autistic spectrum disorders with complex and/or challenging needs, requiring regular support. We deliver high quality individualised care within the client’s own home. We work in collaboration with local authorities, social care teams, and mental health teams in providing a safe and tailored service to meet the needs of our individuals, delivered by our staff. Our service supports the treatment of disease, disorder, and/or injury to individuals with a recognizable learning difficulty, autistic spectrum disorders, and/or mental health needs. Our service is tailored to individual needs, providing personal care and support in their own environment.

You will be working as a part of a team in the following ways:

You will be visiting people in their own homes to assist with household tasks, and personal care and occasionally accompanying the client on visits to the doctor or hospital. There are also domiciliary care workers that work nights offering assistance to clients who require around the clock care. Everyone is different, and needs vary according to their situation. As a domiciliary care worker, you would be providing a full range of personal care from assisting with washing and dressing in the morning to aiding with toileting during the day. On a different day, you might be assisting someone who is fully mobile but has dementia and requires assistance with cooking and cleaning. There is a great deal of variety in domiciliary care work, and it’s perfect if you like changing situations that can challenge you. To be a domiciliary care worker you need to have a genuine interest in helping people to maintain their quality of life and independence regardless of the potential barriers they face. You must be patient, kind, and sympathetic to the difficulties that an individual faces. Your role is to facilitate their independence as much as possible and encourage their well-being at the same time.

The other client group you may need to support will be our 24 hour young persons supported living, mental health, learning disability, or challenging behaviour packages. This role will be full time, 12-hour shifts, rotating on days and nights, and sleep ins

You need to be caring, compassionate, and committed to providing the support that allows our clients to lead ordinary lives. A positive attitude, friendly, caring & understanding nature is an absolute must.

You will assist the Manager to organize the day to day running of the service provision through the policies, training, supervision, and guidance provided by the company.

Duties to include, but will not be limited to:

  • Ensure property is prepared appropriately (e.g. paperwork, laptop, phone, bedding etc.) and ready for the arrival of new placements.
  • Meet new young people and their social workers on arrival to the property to ensure smooth arrival to placement.
  • Ensure newly placed service users are inducted on admission, explaining house rules and welcome pack etc.
  • Attend 72-hour review meeting and all other relevant meetings for the service user.
  • Work with rota team to consider which staff team would work best with the service user.
  • Produce professional reports and correspondence on outcomes and safeguarding in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Log all incidents, daily care notes on QCS Portal.
  • Monitor and follow through with staff to ensure they complete specific actions needed for each young person.
  • Promote service user’s independence by regularly reviewing their support levels in line with their changing needs and abilities and liaise with senior managers to make recommendations on how this should be adjusted.
  • Oversee the day to day management of petty cash system and finances associated with the service user.

Candidate criteria:

  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes.
  • NVQ level 3 in Health and Social care is essential or you must be willing to enrol.
  • Control and restraint training essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOLS.
  • Emergency First Aid required, Ligature awareness as supporting individuals at risk of attempting suicide or self- harm.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Experience with young people knowledge of CAMHS is essential
