Our Services

Independent Care Solutions provides a broad range of services to meet the needs of each group of clients.

16 - 18 Year Olds

16 – 18 Year Olds

It is recognised that there is a shortage of services for this age group as they transition into adulthood. We aim to provide as much stability as possible around the care and support needs of this client group to prevent any disruption as they move from child to adult services. Our clients can count on our support whether it’s through local authorities or healthcare services.

The provision of personal care will be specifically around the needs of the client and their funder as identified in their support and care plan. Support is provided where there is a deficit in the current provision. This may range from a few hours a day to full-time care. Each house and location has a defined statement of purpose that aligns with Ofsted protocols for its category of service provision.

Provision will be made in accordance with the Care Act 2014. This may range from short periods to full-time care. Service delivery hours and the number of staff will depend on the requirements of the funder and the needs of the individual.

Supported Living Service

A supported living service is a property where there may be more than one tenant. Independent Care Solutions will partner with landlords, and while the property will not be registered with a Regulatory Provider, the service delivered within will meet the regulatory requirements of the CQC and or Ofsted.

We recognise that from time to time, individuals may share accommodation. However, they may still require a support package. We work closely with our landlords to ensure that the accommodation is of the highest standard to create a safe and environmentally sound space. We provide this service for two age groups.

16 - 25 Year Olds

16 – 25 Year Olds

We work closely with our landlords and funders of the client to ensure that any tenancy agreements are provided as a Tenancy under Trust. We recognise that individuals under 18 years are not permitted to sign a tenancy agreement and the responsibility must lie with the local authority or health funder until they are 18 years old.

This would mean the funder taking responsibility for the tenancy agreement. In particular, the local authority would take the responsibility of a “corporate parent”.

The service provision for clients aged 16-18 years may include up to 24-hour support. It could require additional professional input as agreed with the local authority, CCGs, or commissioning boards. Where 24-hour support is not required, we promote semi-independence through non-supervised care.

24-hour staff are designated to match each support plan’s needs. We deliver services tailored to the needs of each client. Young people’s needs are assessed and confirmed during admission assessment and support planning meetings. Staff will actively support young people and other service users to develop independence by encouraging them into employment, training, and education to ensure they live independent lives.

18+ Year Olds

We recognise that the client groups we serve may have challenging behaviors and/or complex needs. There could be a need for thorough risk assessments and a potential restriction of movement. If such restrictions are necessary, Independent Care Solutions will work closely with funders to ensure the appropriate Court of Protection orders are in place. Where a Court of Protection order is absent, service provision will be as agreed with the client and their funder.

18+ Year Olds

In this provision, we work closely with our landlords and the funders to ensure that our clients can assume responsibility for the tenancy agreement. Where a client has been assessed as lacking the capacity for their support, treatment, or tenancy agreement, we will require evidence of the best interest assessment.

Where a client can make decisions about their treatment and tenancy agreement, the service will continue to work with the risks presented while liaising with local authorities and/or healthcare commissioners. Any liberty restrictions will be managed under the Mental Capacity Act or Deprivation of Liberties Safeguarding, involving social care and/or healthcare colleagues.

Due Diligence

Our assessment process is detailed and thorough. It ensures that we can meet the needs of any client using our service. All short and long-term placements undergo the same due diligence process with local authorities and funders. This ensures that our provision meets the needs of those we support and demonstrates a comprehensive reporting and regulatory process.

Our Impact On Our Clients

Our Impact On Our Clients

While getting our services, clients are supported in building a constructive and meaningful day, with important life skills where required. We have developed strong links in the community and our service supports our clients in accessing the necessary local amenities, public transport, and education.

We aim to provide a supportive transitional service leading to independence and worthwhile life skills. We prioritize safety, rapport building, and developing strong professional relationships with our care receivers. We support our clients in registering with a local GP and optician. Additionally, we embrace spiritual and religious support which is accessible through the local community.

Across the whole of the provision, we aim to ensure that our client’s needs are addressed. We also ensure the following:

  • Dignity and respect – Including involvement in decision-making about the support they receive, discussions about risks, and how these are managed.
  • Physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing – Including support in attending appointments.
  • Protection from abuse and neglect – Including reporting to the local authority (Child Protection and Safeguarding teams) and CQC notifications.
  • Having control over their day-to-day life, including the level of care and support provided and the way it is provided.
  • Participation in work, education, training, or recreation, that is accessed through local community resources.
  • Social skills, economic well-being, and budgeting.
  • Domestic, family, personal network, and support – We encourage our clients to maintain healthy relationships and friendships.
  • Suitability of living accommodation – We assess the environment and the suitability for them to share accommodation with other people.
  • The individual’s contribution to society, and social skills.
